easter

using the spoon to check the color of the egg

still using the spoon. not long after this, he switched to holding the spoon in one hand and fishing the eggs out with the other.

Timothy had a nice Easter. On Saturday, he took part in the egg hunt in Mom's neighborhood. The homeowners association organizes this every year, and he did it last year. I'm not sure if he remembers that. After that, he spent a few hours exploring Mom and Dad's garden and the yards around their house. One of their neighbors has a small tractor that Tim loves to visit and two neighbors have trampolines that he treats as his own. This is a predominantly fenceless neighborhood. Gee Gee played Easter Bunny and put together a lovely basket of sweets and gifts. He got a motorized Thomas the Tank Engine, which can pull all of his other cars on his train table. He also got a caboose that plays the Thomas theme song and another engine named Toby. He loves all of these and the accompanying books are getting their fair share of attention as well.

he can say train, but he prefers to call it a 'choo choo.'

i think he likes it, don't you?

We went for brunch with Dad on Sunday and Mom kept Tim at home with her. She hid some eggs in her garden and they had another egg hunt. Finally, I boiled some eggs and after working in the garden all afternoon, Timothy, Mom, Dad colored them while Luke did some kicking. Tim understood that he needed to use a spoon to dip the eggs in the dye and tried but his impatience and excitement won the day, and he got in the tub with Incredible Hulk green hands. The grocery stores all sell dying kits that include 9 colors, a drying tray and various stickers and such to make them real fancy. Our kit included a wax pencil which allowed Paul to make the swirls, circles, and letters. Dyeing eggs every Easter is a fond childhood memory of mine.

We expected him to gobble candy and were willing to indulge him for the weekend, but he seems to reach his limit after a couple treats. I wish I had that kind of internal shut down system.

circles!

purple seems to be his favorite color right now

mom's hat

Timothy likes to wear hats that belong to Paul or me. This is my running cap. He put it on himself and wore it to the grocery store.

counting

As often happens, just before this video, Tim said his numbers 1-10 spontaneously and with help only on the seven. No matter; we're still very proud of him. He's working on his ABC's as well.
