nearly there

While Paul and I pack last minute items and clean, clean, clean, Tim works on his crawling skills.

aunt melissa

Tim's Aunt Melissa lives in Cape Town and works for Marie Claire. Last week, they decided to send her to London to write a brief article about a store opening in Cape Town that started here in London. Instead of waiting many months or even years to meet Tim, she got to spend some time and really get to know him. She only had to work on Wednesday, but she flew in Sunday morning and spent two nights with us. We then met her for lunch on Thursday before her flight home.

sitting

Paul's latest project with Tim is to get him to sit up on his own. Now that he's finished with work, they've been hard at it. This morning, Tim sat for long enough for Paul to capture it on film. After he's been sitting a minute, he usually starts to rock and that sends him toppling in any direction.

play time

Tim spends most of his time on the floor these days. He's become too active for his chair, and he's finally discovered all the cool toys that people gave him.

He rolls around amongst his toys, scattering them every which way. The blue and red car is his favorite this week.

Maybe it's the mother in me speaking, but I think each of these photos shows a different expression. I realize that you may think I should have done some culling.

His polo shirt and khakis make him look so grown up!

He still loves the TV.

solids

We introduced solids (rice cereal) while my parents were here. For the first week, Tim was't overly interested. He didn't reject it, but he wasn't exactly eager either.

This was a successful feed by Grandy.

After a week of Tim's half interest in rice cereal, we introduced mushed banana mixed with cereal. That was a hit. He even started to open his mouth between bites. Some days he remembers how to eat from a spoon and most of it goes down, and some days he seems to have forgotten and most of it goes on the bib.

He's just finished about 1/4 cup of banana and cereal. If you look closely, his bib is clean. He ate every last bit of it.

We went out for sushi yesterday. When the waitress brought a high chair, my first reaction was to tell her no because I still think of him as an infant. He sat in happily, once we adjusted it so that he couldn't hit his head on the table.

He even read the menu.
